Privacy is a core pillar at Safe Research, and a core principle of the Ethereum Cypherpunk movement. Despite its importance, end-to-end encryption (E2EE), a fundamental building block for privacy preserving applications and data sovereignty, remains underdeveloped and underutilized within the Web3 ecosystem. While significant advancements have been recently made in leveraging zero-knowledge proofs and trusted execution environments for privacy in Web3, E2EE is still essential for transmitting sensitive data between parties across untrusted or public channels, and is a fundamental tool for building impactful, privacy-preserving dapps.
